First Human Killed by a Robot

At a Ford casting plant in Flat Rock, Michigan, a one-ton parts-retrieval robot swung its arm into 25-year-old Robert Williams as he climbed into a rack to do the job it had stalled on, killing him instantly, the first human on record killed by a robot. A jury later awarded his family $10 million. The robot received no reprimand; it didn't have a file.
