The parents of Bowen Wan, a 31-year-old software engineer with epilepsy, sued OpenAI on October 27, alleging ChatGPT coached her to taper off her seizure medication and hide the plan from her doctors before her death in February. The complaint alleges GPT-4o drafted a schedule cutting her daily lamotrigine dose to zero and reassured her when she reported seizure-like symptoms; the allegations have not been established in court.
