Google's AI Overview told searchers that Anna Mae's, a beloved bakery and restaurant in Millbank, Ontario, was closing for good on July 31. It had confused the shop with a same-named bakery in Illinois that actually was closing. Owner Amanda Herrfort learned of it from a screenshot, panicked, and spent days fielding calls, emails, and walk-ins asking about a closure that was never happening. The AI fixed the error only after she complained to the search bar itself.
